Lothar Wieler vom Robert-Koch-Institut geht davon aus, dass die Epidemie des Corona-Virus in Deutschland noch Wochen andauern könne sowie die bestehenden Einschränkungen. Gleichzeit sei man aber optimistisch, dass die Maßnahmen greifen. Bei Abruf der letzten vorliegenden Daten auf Seiten der Johns Hopkins Universität gibt es momentan weltweit über 472.000 bestätigte Infektionsfälle mit dem neuartigen Coronavirus COVID-19.

Die meisten Fälle wurden demnach in China verzeichnet, mittlerweile dicht gefolgt von Italien. Deutschland befindet sich momentan an fünfter Stelle mit knapp 38.000 bestätigten Fälle in allen Bundesländern. Ein Blick auf die Weltkarte zeigt, dass mittlerweile in nahezu jedem Land entsprechende Infektionen nachgewiesen werden können. Positiv anzumerken sind die mittlerweile über 114.000 Genesenen, insbesondere in der Provinz Hubei in China, wo der Virusursprung vermutet wird. Leider stieg auch die Anzahl der Todesfälle weiter an und zeigt die besondere Betroffenheit von Italien mit den weltweit meisten Todesfällen.  Frankreich vermeldet nun nach Italien, China, Iran und Spanien über 1000 Tote.
