Nach Informationen der Nachrichtenagentur Reuters unterzeichneten Hyundai Motor und die Tochtergesellschaft Kia Motor einen Vertrag mit SK Innovation über die Belieferung mit Batteriezellen für die nächsten vier bis fünf Jahre.

Das zwischen den drei koreanischen Unternehmen abgeschlossene Geschäft soll nach Insiderinformationen ein Volumen von ca. 8,6 Milliarden Dollar haben. Jedoch stand für ein offizielles Statement hierzu bisher keine der drei beteiligten Parteien zur Verfügung.

Hyundai ist aktuell mit den zwei Modellen (Kona und IONIQ) auf dem batterieelektrischen Markt vertreten. Im Rahmen der bekanntgegeben „Strategy 2025“ plant Hyundai jedoch bis zum Jahr 2025 insgesamt 16 verschiedene Elektromodelle auf den Markt zu bringen und setzt sich als Unternehmen das Ziel unter die Top 3 batterieelektrischer Fahrzeughersteller aufzusteigen.
