Laut einer Reuters-Meldung planen die Unternehmen Wildcat Discovery aus San Diego, USA, und InoBat aus der Slowakei den Bau einer neuen Batteriezellfabrik in der Slowakei. Die beiden Unternehmen wollen den europäischen Autompbilherstellern somit eine weitere Lieferantenmöglichkeit bieten. Bereits 2020 sollen 1500 Batterien mit insgesamt 100 MWh ausgeliefert werden. Langfristig ist die Steigerung der Produktion auf das 100-fache geplant.

Das slowakische Unternehmen InoBat wurde im Jahre 2018 gegründet und fokussiert sich auf die Geschäftsfelder Elektromobilität, Energiespeicher und Wasserstoffantriebe insbesondere im osteuropäischen Bereich. Hierzu wurde ein gesamteuropäische Center für die Batterieexzellenz gegründet. In Kooperation mit dem ungarischen Ölkonzern MOL werden Projekte zur flächendeckenden Wasserstoffversorgung für die Mobilität realisiert. Wildcat Discovery Technologies fokussiert sich auf die Entwicklung und Charakterisierung neuer Materialien insbesondere für Batterien. Durch die Verwendung eigener Testsysteme und neuester Technologie soll die Testung neuer Materialien sowie die Potenzialabschätzung in kürzester Zeit ermöglicht werden.

Die Zulieferer reagieren auf die zu erwartende, steigende Nachfrage der Automobilkonzerne in Europa und rücken näher an ihre Abnehmer heran. Die Staaten in Osteuropa wie Ungarn oder Polen scheinen von den asiatischen Konzernen als besonders geeignet für die Produktion Europa zu sein. Dies entspricht den Beobachtungen, wohin Zulieferer allgemein ihre Produktionen verlagern. Die Elektromobilitätsstrategien der Automobilkonzerne scheinen immer besser abgesichert in Bezug auf die Lieferkette.
