Das RTL-Nachtjournal hat sich mit der Frage beschäftigt: „Wo steht Deutschland in Bezug auf die Batteriefertigung für Elektrofahrzeuge?“
Die Batteriefertigung besitzt seit längerem hohe mediale Präsenz und polarisiert insbesondere mit der Frage, wo und wie sich Deutschland im Bezug auf die asiatische Konkurrenz abheben kann und den Technologiestandort auch für die Zukunfttechnologie attraktiv machen kann. Hierzu hat die Redaktion das e-Lab in Aachen mit seiner Batteriezellfertigung im Labormaßstab besucht. Der geschäftsführende Oberingenieur Dr.-Ing. Heiner Heimes sieht zwei entscheidende Stellschrauben, um die Lithium-Ionen-Technologie für Elektroautos weiter zu entwickeln und zu optimieren: Materialforschung und Produktionsforschung. Prof. Dr-Ing. Achim Kampker weist auf die entscheidende Bedeutung hin, eine wettbewerbsfähige Batteriezellfabrik auch in Deutschland zu etablieren. Um das High-Tech Produkt Lithium-Ionen-Batterie optimal zu nutzen und den Kreislauf zu schließen, wird an neuen Wegen zum Recycling gearbeitet.
