Der Produzent Customcells mit Sitz in Itzehoe plant den Bau von mindestens zwei weiteren Batteriezellenfabriken in Deutschland. Eine Fertigung soll für den Automotive- und eine für den kommerziellen Luftfahrverkehr entstehen. Derzeit verfügt das Unternehmen bereits über zwei Produktionsstandorte in Deutschland und ist Teil des Joint Ventures „Cellforce“ mit Porsche.
Mehr als zehn Gigawattstunden
Laut einem Interview der „Automobilwoche“ mit Customcells-CEO Dirk Abendroth plant das Unternehmen eine eigenständige Fertigung für Automotive-Zellen von „mehreren zehn Gigawattstunden“ und eine Produktion von Zellen für die Luftfahrt im Umfang von 3,5 Gigawattstunden. Eine mögliche Kapazitätserweiterung sei bereits berücksichtigt worden. Darüber hinaus befinde sich Customcells derzeit bei der Sondierung eines geeigneten Standorts in den USA. Eine Niederlassung in China sei indes nicht geplant.
