Bundeswirtschaftsminister Robert Habeck hat einen „Important Project of Common European Interest“ (IPCEI)-Förderbescheid über mehr als 155 Millionen Euro an Northvolt überreicht. Das schwedische Unternehmen plant derzeit eine Batteriezellfabrik in Heide, die 2025 in Betrieb gehen soll. Die Fördersumme setzt sich zu 70 Prozent aus dem Bundeshaushalt und zu 30 Prozent aus der Landesförderung Schleswig-Holsteins zusammen. Dabei handele es sich um das durch die EU genehmigte Maximum.
BMWK plant Förderbudget von 15 Milliarden Euro
Die Gigafabrik soll im Endausbau eine der größten Batteriezell-Fertigungsstätten in Deutschland sein und pro Jahr mehrere 100.000 Elektrofahrzeuge mit nachhaltigen Akkus versorgen. Die Investition bestätige, dass Deutschland zum Hotspot der europäischen Batterieindustrie werde, heißt es in einer offiziellen Mitteilung des Bundesministeriums für Wirtschaft und Klimaschutz (BMWK). Demnach sind bis zum Jahr 2030 Investitionen von mehr als 15 Milliarden Euro in Batteriezellwerke geplant – weitere Investitionen sollen in Rohstoffe, Batteriematerialien und -komponenten sowie -Recycling fließen.
