Die Fraunhofer-Einrichtung Forschungsfertigung Batteriezelle FFB in Münster und das UK Battery Industrialisation Centre (UKBIC) in Coventry wollen künftig zusammenarbeiten. Einer entsprechenden Absichtserklärung zufolge umfasst die Kooperation den Austausch von Erfahrungen in der Zellproduktion sowie die gemeinsame Teilnahme an der europäischen Forschung und die Entwicklung einer europäischen Roadmap für die Batterietechnologie.

Ähnliche Zielsetzungen

Die Institutionen UKBIC und FFB verfolgen ähnliche Ziele. Als Entwicklungseinrichtungen für die Batteriezellenproduktion ermöglichen es beide Partner, unter anderem in Kooperationen mit der Industrie, sowohl einzelne Prozessschritte der Zellfertigung als auch ganze Produktionsketten zu erproben und zu optimieren.

Die britische Einrichtung ist vollständig öffentlich finanziert. Die Fraunhofer FFB wird im Rahmen des Projekts „FoFeBat“ vom Bundesministerium für Bildung und Forschung sowie vom Land Nordrhein-Westfalen mit insgesamt bis zu 680 Millionen Euro gefördert.
