Das deutsche Maschinenbauunternehmen Manz hat von Britishvolt einen Folgeauftrag für Anlagen zur Herstellung von Lithium-Ionen-Batteriezellen erhalten. Das Abkommen mit einem Volumen von rund 20 Millionen Euro umfasst eine angepasste Technologie zur Assemblierung zylindrischer Zellen. Der Auftrag folgt auf die bestehende Kooperation zur ersten Ausbaustufe einer Produktionslinie für Batteriezellen im britischen Blyth mit einem Volumen von mehr als 70 Millionen Euro. Die Lieferung der Anlagen soll bereits 2023 erfolgen.

Große Pläne für die Partnerschaft

Die ambitionierten Wachstumspläne von Britishvolt sehen weitere Fertigungslinien vor, um die Gesamtproduktionskapazität auf deutlich über 100 Gigawattstunden zu steigern. Laut Britishvolt-COO Tim Orlob hilft die Kooperaton mit der Manz AG dabei, die Produktionseffizienz und den Ausschuss zu reduzieren. „Wir sind auf einem sehr guten Weg, die erste vollintegrierte Gigawatt-Linie in Großbritannien zu realisieren und schnell nach Nordamerika zu expandieren“, sagt Orlob in einer offiziellen Mitteilung von Britishvolt.
