Der Automobilhersteller Stellantis und die italienische Regierung stehen laut Medienberichten kurz vor einer endgültigen Einigung über den Bau einer Gigafabrik. In das geplante Produktionswerk für Lithium-Ionen-Batteriezellen im süditalienischen Termoli sollen Fördermittel von 369 Millionen Euro fließen. Nach den bereits angekündigten Werken in Frankreich und Deutschland wäre dies die dritte Batteriefabrik von Stellantis.
Übereinkunft wohl nur noch Formsache
Am 10. März waren Vertreter aus dem italienischen Energieministerium, der Industrie und den Gewerkschaften zusammengetroffen, um sich über den baldigen Abschluss einer Vereinbarung über die Batteriefabrik in Termoli auszutauschen. Die Gewerkschaften verkündeten anschließend, dass eine Übereinkunft mit Stellantis zum Bau einer Batteriefabrik in Italien für Elektrofahrzeuge unmittelbar bevorstehe. In diesem Fall werde das Werk durch das ACC-Joint-Venture mit Mercedes-Benz und dem französischen Mineralölunternehmen „TotalEnergies“ durch den Umbau einer bestehenden Motorenfabrik realisiert werden.
Je Werk bis zu 24 Gigawattstunden pro Jahr
Dem Stellantis-Vorstandsvorsitzenden Carlos Tavares zufolge könnte die Investitionshöhe ähnliche Dimensionen besitzen wie bei den bereits angekündigten Batteriewerken in Kaiserslautern und Douvrin. Die Ausgaben für die ersten beiden Fabriken belaufen sich auf rund zwei Milliarden Euro pro Standort. Die Produktionsstätten sollen jeweils eine jährliche Gesamtkapazität von bis zu 24 Gigawattstunden aufweisen. In Fachkreisen heißt es, das dritte Werk werde aufgrund der vergeichbaren Kosten auch vergeichbare Dimensionen annehmen.
