Der Elektrosportwagenhersteller Fisker denkt, nach Aussage von Fisker CEO, Henrik Fisker, darüber nach eine eigene Batteriezellfertigung in entweder den USA oder in Europa aufzubauen. Dafür soll bereits ein großer, jedoch noch unbekannter, Partner überzeugt worden sein sich dem Vorhaben anzuschließen.
Fisker will die Produktion der Batteriezellen gerne in die eigene Hand nehmen, da das Unternehmen in der Vergangenheit Probleme mit seinen von A123 zugelieferten Batteriezellen hatte, ein Unternehmen, dass inzwischen Konkurs angemeldet hat und selbst als Marke wachsende Absatzziele hat.
Fisker plant in einer Partnerschaft mit Foxconn, einem taiwanesischen Technologiekonzern und groß Zulieferer für Apple, bis zum Ende des Jahres 2023 mehr als 250.000 in einem Jahr zu produzieren. Ein erstes Fahrzeug, dass ausdrücklich für den Massenmarkt bezahlbar sein soll, ist in Form des Fisker Ocean SUV geplant.
Sollte Fisker seine Batteriezellen in Zukunft selbst produzieren, so reiht sich das Unternehmen immer mehr in einen Trend ein. Dieser umfasst, dass Autobauer, Tesla, VW und andere, immer mehr das Ziel verfolgen die Batterie zu einer eigenen Kompetenz zu machen. Es bleibt spannend zu sehen, wie Fisker seine Pläne in eben diesem Rahmen umsetzen wird.
