Nachdem zum Ende des letzten Jahres SVOLT bekannt gegeben hatte eine Batteriezellfertigung im Saarland in Überherrn aufbauen zu wollen, plant nun wohl ein weiterer chinesischer Batteriehersteller die Expansion nach Europa. CALB (China Aviation Lithium Battery Technology) will in Europa eine Batteriefabrik aufbauen, wie electrive.net berichtet.
Das sicherlich für die meisten noch relativ unbekannte CALB gibt an sowohl NMC, als auch LFP Batteriezellen herzustellen und damit eine Produktionsleistung von 100 GWh pro Jahr zu schaffen. Die Zellen, aber auch Module, des im Jahr 2007 gegründeten Unternehmens werden dabei für die Herstellung von elektrischen privat Fahrzeugen und Nutzfahrzeugen genutzt. Die Kunden sind bisher vor allem chinesischen OEMs.
Ihm Rahmen einer aktuellen Pressemitteilung sagt das Unternehmen nun, dass es in „naher Zukunft“ die Produktionskapazitäten für die Batterieherstellung auf 200 GWh pro Jahr verdoppeln wolle. Dabei muss festgehalten werden, dass die weltweite LIB Nachfrage im Jahr 2020 überhaupt erst zwischen rund 160 – 190 GWh lag (VDMA Roadmap Batterieproduktionsmittel 2030). Für den erheblichen Ausbau der Kapazitäten, der CALB auf weltweites Spitzenniveau bringen würde, sollen entsprechend weltweite Standorte geschaffen werden und unter diesen eben auch ein europäischer.
