Das estnische Unternehmen Skeleton Technologies, das Ultrakondensatoren herstellt und auch ein Werk in Großröhrsdorf in Sachsen betreibt, konnte in seiner sogenannten D-Finanzierungsrunde (4 Runde) einen Betrag von ca. 40 Millionen Euro einsammeln. Damit hat das Unternehmen insgesamt seit seiner Gründung im Jahr 2009 93 Millionen Euro an Investorenförderung eingenommen.
Skeletons Technologie hat sich der Entwicklung von Batterien mit sehr kurzen Ladezeiten und hohen Lebensdauern verschrieben, wofür das Unternehmen die Ultrakondensatorentechnik nutzt. Im September veröffentlichte Skeleton erst eine Nachricht in der die Zusammenarbeit mit dem KIT bei der Entwicklung einer sogenannten Graphenbatterie ankündigte wurde. Ein Batterietyp der sich durch eine Ladezeit von 15 Sekunden auszeichnet und eine Ergänzung zur eigentlichen Fahrzeugbatterie darstellen soll. Hier hat das Unternehmen nach eigenen Angaben bereits eine Absichtserklärung in Höhe von einer Milliarden Euro mit einem „führenden OEM“ unterzeichnet.
Ohne eine konkrete Summe zu nennen gab das Unternehmen in der aktuellen Meldung an, dass es im zweiten Jahr in Folge den eigenen Umsatz verdreifachen konnte. Konkrete wird das Unternehmen jedoch in Bezug auf den aktuellen Auftragsbestand. Diesen gibt Skeleton mit einer Summe von 150 Millionen Euro an.
