Am Standort Schwandorf bei Paderborn erweitert der Automobilzulieferer Benteler erneut seine Produktionsflächen auf nun rund 7.500 m². Auf der Fläche sollen in erster Linie Batteriewannen für verschiedene deutsche Automobilhersteller produziert werden. Hauptwerkstoff, der von Benteler zu Batteriewannen verarbeitet wird, ist das Element Aluminium.
Benteler plant seinen Anbau am Werksgelände schon in diesem Herbst fertig zu stellen, bevor ab Mitte 2021 die Produktion starten soll. Die Produktion der Batteriewannen selbst ist dabei auf Leichtbau fokussiert. Benteler nutzt hierbei vor allem den Werkstoff Aluminium für seine Batteriewannen und sagt, in Person von Werksleiter Helmut Ascher: „Mit unseren leichten Batteriewannen machen wir nachhaltige Elektromobilität für unsere Kunden möglich – kostengünstig, schnell und zuverlässig“.
Neben den Batteriewannen hat sich Benteler inzwischen sehr breit in der Elektromobilität aufgestellt und kann heute, nach eigener Aussage, eine ganze reihe von verschiedenen Produkten im Bereich anbieten. Unlängst aufsehenerregend hierbei war vor allem die Partnerschaft mit Bosch, aus der ein komplettes Elektromobil-Chassis hervorging.
