Zum August 2020 sind inzwischen 17 verschiedene Unternehmungen auf dem Markt der Batteriezellfertigung in Europa im Rahmen von GWh-Projekten aktiv. Ende Juli hinzugekommen ist das Unternehmen Verkor. Verkor, dass seine Batteriezellen unter anderem für Elektroautos herstellen möchte, plant seine Fertigung aller Voraussicht nach in Frankreich. Ab dem Jahr 2023 will Verkor im Volumen von 16 GWh pro Jahr Batteriezellen herstellen und liegt damit genau mit der ersten Ausbaustufe der Batteriewerke von PSA in Kaiserslautern und Dury, welche jedoch schon ab 2022 produzieren wollen, gleich auf. Bei der Errichtung der Batterieproduktion unterstützen Verkor die Partner: EIT InnoEnergy, Schneider Electric und die Groupe IDEC.
