Die FEV-Gruppe hat die Inbetriebnahme des nach eigenen Angaben weltweit größten Entwicklungs- und Testzentrums für Hochvoltbatterien für PKW und NFZ für die zweite Hälfte des Jahres angekündigt. Das Zentrum entsteht am Gruppenstandort Sandersdorf-Brehna in der Nähe von Leipzig. Alleinstellungsmerkmal sei ein Shaker mit 350 kN und integrierter Klimahaube.

Nach Angaben des Vorsitzenden der Geschäftsführer und Professors der RWTH, Prof. Dr. Stefan Pischinger, können auf dem 12.000 Quadratmeter großen Komplex alle gängigen Testmethoden für Batterien im Rahmen der Lebensdauerabsicherung, Umwelt- und Transporttests sowie für die Crashtests angeboten werden. Besonderheit sei darüber hinaus, dass die benötigte Energie über eine eigene Photovoltaikanlage erzeugt werde. Das Land Sachsen-Anhalt förderte das Vorhaben und die Schaffung von knapp 100 neuen Arbeitsplätzen mit sechs Millionen Euro.
