Der Kauf des insolventen Batterieproduzenten Britishvolt durch das US-australische Unternehmen Recharge Industries ist bestätigt. Ein entsprechendes Abkommen, das sich Anfang Februar angekündigt hatte, wurde nun offiziell unterzeichnet. Über den Kaufbetrag ist derzeit nichts bekannt. Mit dem Erwerb von Britishvolt gilt die geplante Zellfertigung in Northumberland als gesichert.

Fokus verschiebt sich auf stationäre Speicher

Laut einer offiziellen Mitteilung von Recharge Industries soll der Name „Britishvolt“ bestehen bleiben. Zunächst soll sich jedoch der Fokusmarkt des Unternehmens verändern. Der neue Eigentümer wolle zunächst Batteriezellen für stationäre Speicher produzieren und perspektivisch Zellen für Hochleistungssportwagen herstellen. Der Produktionsstart ist für 2025 anvisiert. Der erste Spatenstich soll in den nächsten sechs bis zwölf Monaten erfolgen.
