Die erste Produktionsanlage für die Zelllackierung von BMW hat im Leipziger Werk den Serienbetrieb aufgenommen. In Ergänzung dazu und zu den zwei bestehenden Fertigungslinien für Batteriemodule sollen bis April 2024 eine weitere Batteriemodullinie, vier Zelllacklinien und zwei Montagelinien zur Fertigung von Hochvoltbatterien starten. Laut einer offiziellen Mitteilung des Konzerns gehen 2023 im Abstand von rund zwei Monaten alle geplanten Zelllacklinien in die Serienproduktion.
Fertigung an altem i3-Produktionsort
„Ab 2024 können wir am Standort Leipzig die gesamte Prozesskette der Hochvoltbatterie-Fertigung abbilden“, sagt Markus Fallböhmer, Leiter Batterieproduktion bei BMW. Ziel des Unternehmens sei es, bis 2030 mindestens die Hälfte des Absatzes mit vollelektrischen Fahrzeugen zu erzielen. Die neue Zelllackierungsanlage im Leipziger BMW-Werk nimmt 2.300 Quadratmeter Fläche ein. Direkt nach dem Auslauf der i3-Produktion wurde die Fertigungsstätte innerhalb eines halben Jahres für die E-Komponentenfertigung umgebaut.
Mehr als 2.000 lackierte Zellen pro Stunde
Die Anlage soll mehr als zehn Millionen Batteriezellen pro Jahr sowie stündlich über 2.300 Zellen lackieren können. Das lackierte Produkt wird für die Batteriemodulfertigung in Leipzig hergestellt, die Module für die vollelektrischen Modelle BMW i4 und BMW iX1 produziert. Eine weitere Batteriemodullinie im dortigen Werk stellt E-Komponenten für den BMW iX her.
Von der Zelllackierung zur Hochvoltbatterie
Die Fertigung von Hochvoltbatterien ist in die drei aufeinanderfolgenden Prozessschritte Zelllackierung, Modulfertigung und Hochvoltbatterie-Montage unterteilt. Die Produktion erfolgt in hochautomatisierten Prozessen. Bei der Zelllackierung werden die Lithium-Ionen-Zellen zunächst mit einem Laser vorbehandelt und strukturiert. Die anschließende Plasmareinigung entfernt Schmutzpartikel und Oxide. Danach werden die Zellen in einer speziell entwickelten Anlage in zwei Schichten lackiert und UV-gehärtet. Der Lack sorgt für eine optimale Isolierung der Zellen.
