Das von der Investment-Firma „Valinor“ gegründete Unternehmen „Elinor Batteries“ hat mit der Umsetzung seiner Gigafabrik-Pläne im mittelnorwegischen Orkland begonnen. Das Batterie-Werk soll auf dem grünen Industriegelände Eiktyr entstehen. Um finanzielle und technologische Risiken zu begrenzen, werde der Standort in Modulen entwickelt. Mit der Fertigstellung des ersten Teils soll im zweiten Quartal 2026 die Produktion beginnen. Bis 2030 möchte Elinor die Bauphase von zwei weiteren Modulen abgeschlossen haben, berichtet das Nachrichtenportal „Business Wire“.

Gute Voraussetzungen für „grüne Produktion“

CEO Terje Andersen betont demnach, es gebe keinen anderen Ort auf der Welt, der sich besser für die Herstellung nachhaltiger Batterien eigne als Mittelnorwegen. Das Gebiet verfüge über einen weitreichenden Zugang zu Europas preiswertster Energie aus erneuerbaren Quellen. Ein weiterer Vorteil liege in der Nähe zu Trondheim: Nur rund 30 Auto-Minuten entfernt ermögliche die „Technologiehauptstadt“ Zugang zu Forschungs- und Entwicklungsressourcen sowie zu einem großen Arbeitsmarkt. Elinor zielt mit seinen Produkten zunächst auf den Markt für stationäre Energiespeicher in Gebäuden, in der Industrie sowie an Ladestationen für den elektrischen Verkehr und für Schiffsanwendungen.
