Die Volvo-Gruppe will ab dem Jahr 2025 im belgischen Gent mit der Produktion von Batteriemodulen beginnen. Bislang liefern Partner sowohl Zellen als auch Module an den Konzern. Die Fertigungslinie in Gent soll voraussichtlich 12.000 Quadratmeter groß sein, 75 Millionen Euro kosten und in der Lage sein, Batteriezellen sowohl von Partnern als auch aus dem geplanten Zellwerk in Schweden zu verwenden.
Notwendiger Ausbau der Kapazitäten
Das Lkw-Montagewerk der Volvo Group im schwedischen Göteborg baut bereits jetzt schwere Elektro-Lkw. In der zweiten Hälfte des Jahres 2023 soll auch das Werk in Gent mit der Produktion von batteriebetriebenen schweren Lkw beginnen. Die für den Antrieb dieser E-Trucks benötigten Batteriepacks werden in Gent hergestellt. Die Volvo Group hat sich zum Ziel gesetzt, dass bis 2030 mindestens 35 Prozent ihrer weltweit verkauften Fahrzeuge reine E-Mobile sind.
