Das Marktforschungsunternehmen Research and Markets hat in seiner am 26.05.2020 veröffentlichten Marktstudie den Einfluss von Covid-19 auf die Entwicklung des Batteriespeichermarktes in den Jahren 2020 bis 2021 untersucht.

Versorgungssektor als Wachstumstreiber

Ergebnis der auf 52 Seiten veröffentlichten Studie ist, dass vor allen der Versorgungssektor (z.B. Energie und Wasser) wesentlicher Wachstumstreiber im Bereich der Energiespeichersysteme auf Lithium-Ionen-Basis sein wird und nach den Schätzung ebenso den größten Anteil am Batterie-Energiespeichermarkt stellen wird. Energiespeichersysteme, wie sie zum Beispiel zur Speicherung von Sonnen- oder Windenergie genutzt werden können, entwickeln eine immer wichtiger werdende Rolle zur Umsetzung eines nachhaltigen Energiemix und unterstützen die Reduzierung von Fossilen Energiequellen zur Stromerzeugung. Pufferspeicher, zur besseren Handhabbarkeit von erneuerbar gewonnener Energie, sind für kleinste private Anwendungen ebenso relevant, wie für große Versorgungsunternehmen.

Fokus des Wachstums im asiatisch-pazifischen Raum

Im Weiteren kommt die Studie zu dem Ergebnis, dass der größte Anstieg des Wachstums im Bereich der Energiespeicher auf den asiatisch-pazifische Raum entfallen wird. Insbesondere durch politisch forcierte Programme zum Umweltschutz im Energiesektor, wird in verschiedenen Ländern der Region der weltweit stärkste Anstieg beim Absatz von Energiespeichersystemen erwartet. Relevanteste Hersteller für Speichersysteme im asiatisch-pazifischen Raum sind die Unternehmen Samsung SDI, LG Chem, Hitachi, Panasonic und die NEC Corporation.
