Das Batterieforschungszentrum MEET der Wilhelms-Universität Münster (WWU) und das Helmholtz-Institut Münster (HI MS) des Forschungszentrums Jülich (FZJ) feiern zusammen ihr 10plus5 Doppeljubiläum. Unter den 150 Gästen der Veranstaltung waren unter anderem hochrangige Vertreterinnen und Vertretern der Stadt-, Landes- und Bundespolitik. Nach der Eröffnung von Münsters Oberbürgermeister Markus Lewe folgten weitere Beiträge von Politikern und Wissenschaftlern. WWU-Rektor Prof. Dr. Johannes Wessels betonte die große Bedeutung des Standortes Münster für das Zukunftsthema Batterieforschung und das bereits international erworbene Ansehen und die Vernetztheit. Zukunftsfragen wie „30 Jahre Erfolgsgeschichte der Lithium-Speicher – Weiter so auch im nächsten Jahrzehnt?“ waren weitere vorgestellte Themen, wodurch auch die aufkommenden Herausforderungen einer konkurrenzfähigen Batterieproduktion deutlich wurden. Im Anschluss konnten die Gäste 17 Posterwände mit Highlights, Meilensteinen und persönlichen Perspektiven von Mitarbeiterinnen und Mitarbeitern aus den letzten zehn Jahren vom MEET und vom HI MS begutachten. Die Vision von Winter aus dem Jahr 2009, dass Münster zukünftig mit moderne Auto-Antriebstechnologie verbunden sein wird, scheint aufgegangen zu sein.
