In Ulm wurde die Entscheidung des BMBF, die Forschungsfabrik Batteriezelle nach Münster zu vergeben mit großer Verwunderung aufgenommen (wir berichteten). Inoffizielle Aussagen hatten vorher den Standort Ulm als eindeutigen Sieger der deutschlandweiten Ausschreibung gesehen. Die baden-württembergische Wirtschaftsministerin reagierte entsprechend überrascht. Für sie stellt Ulm durch seine bisherige Forschung, die gute Infrastruktur sowie die Nähe zu Batteriezellherstellern den prädestinierten Standort dar. Das Argument der besseren Recyclebarkeit, das für Münster spricht, sieht sie ebenfalls für Ulm gegeben. Die Landesregierung prüft nun die Ausdehnung der Förderung des Standortes Ulm mit eigenen Mitteln. Trotz des negativen Bescheides werden weiterhin Projekte zu den Themen digitale Produktion in Ulm und Karlsruhe gefördert. In Ulm sei man sich einig, dass der Standort Ulm für Deutschland weiterhin hohe strategische Bedeutung für die Batterietechnologie habe.
