Nach den aktuell veröffentlichten Zahlen von SK Innovation konnten die Koreaner ihren Umsatz im vergangenen Geschäftsjahr, auf ca. 1,2 Milliarden Euro, mehr als verdoppeln. Da SK Innovation zahlreiche Investition in das eigene Batteriegeschäft gestemmt hat, bleibt unter dem Strich jedoch ein Jahresverlust von ca. 320 Millionen Euro bestehen.
SK Innovation sieht mit Blick auf die eigenen Zahlen und die allgemeine Bewegung im Bereich der Batterietechnik in den kommenden Jahren weiter erhebliches Wachstum. Alleine in diesem Jahr will SK Innovation zur weiteren Entwicklung des Batteriegeschäftes die Standorte Yancheng und Huizhou in China mit zusammen 20 GWh weiterer Produktionsleistung fertiggestellt haben. Damit würden die Koreaner, nach eigener Aussage, eine 4-fach höhere Produktionsleistung als noch zum Ende des Jahres 2019 erreichen.
Neben dem Ausbau der Kapazitäten in China ist SK Innovation vor allem auch in Europa sehr aktiv. Aktuell planen die Koreaner nämlich bereits die Standorte Nummer 2 und 3 in Europa, konkret in Ungarn und wollen von hier aus vor allem die europäischen Fahrzeughersteller beliefern.
