Škoda Auto has commissioned a new battery system assembly hall at its main plant in Mladá Boleslav. The 55,000-square-meter production facility with a total investment of 205 million euros was built in less than one year.
Up to 335,000 battery systems per year
The new hall is said to be capable of assembling one battery system every 60 seconds, enabling production of more than 1,100 units per day and up to 335,000 battery systems annually. According to the company, Škoda has thereby become the largest manufacturer of electric vehicle battery systems within the Volkswagen Group. The systems are based on Volkswagen’s MEB platform and will be supplied not only for Škoda electric models but also for additional brands within the group.
