24M has opened a new production and research facility in Rayong, Thailand. The facility was developed with partner company Nuovo+ and covers approximately 6,600 square meters. It is expected to produce up to 100 megawatt-hours of battery cells per year. 24M has already started pilot production there for an Indian mobility manufacturer.
Pilot plant for new battery technologies
The plant will focus on testing and further developing 24Mʼs technologies, including the production of batteries without binders as well as a process for a cost-effective and eco-friendly recycling of battery material. In addition to production technology, safety aspects will also be investigated, such as the Impervio battery separator technology designed to reduce the risk of fire in lithium-ion batteries by detecting and preventing internal short circuits. The facility co-developed by long-time partner Nuovo+ has been sold to 24M. Proceeds from the sale will be used by Nuovo+ to purchase 51.1 million US dollars of preferred stock in 24M.
