HYNN Collaborates with RWTH Aachen University

Chinese company HYNN will be collaborating with the Chair of Production Engineering of E-Mobility Components (PEM) of RWTH Aachen University and its spin-off company “PEM Motion” in the area of lithium-ion batteries. As a provider of manufacturing solutions, HYNN specializes in the field of cell finalization, in which forming is a key procedure. “As one of the most time-consuming and energy-intensive process steps, forming is still one of the biggest challenges in the industrial production of lithium-ion batteries,” says Professor Achim Kampker, Director of PEM.

Prototype line for further research

HYNN is planning to set up a prototype line for cell production with industrial equipment at PEM’s headquarters on the German-Dutch border. The facility will also be available to students to provide a practical insight into battery cell production as part of their final theses or learning modules. According to the partners’ expectations, the project will strengthen collaboration between research and industry and pave the way for new ideas for product and process development in cell finalization.
