Applied safety science specialist UL Solutions Inc. has acquired BatterieIngenieure GmbH, a battery testing company based in Aachen, Germany. With the acquisition, the US-based company is responding to the increasing demand for battery performance and safety testing as part of the global transition to sustainable energy. Financial terms of the transaction were not disclosed.
New Aachen test laboratory under construction
UL Solutions already has battery testing laboratories in Changzhou, China, and in Pyeongtaek, South Korea, as well as in Auburn Hills, Michigan. The services offered by BatterieIngenieure GmbH include comprehensive testing, modeling, and fault diagnosis of battery technologies. The company was founded in 2015 and has a laboratory in Aachen as well as an office in the Spanish city of Bilbao. “BatterieIngenieure” employs more than 50 people and is currently building a larger laboratory in Aachen to expand its testing and modeling capacities.
