Avesta Battery and Energy Engineering (ABEE) from Belgium has started series production of lithium metal anodes which, due to their high energy density, are considered a promising development in the battery industry with the potential to improve the efficiency of energy storage solutions.
The only plant of its kind in Europe
ABEE claims to be the only company in Europe that can produce lithium metal anodes in volume. The facility is designed to manufacture anodes from 50 to less than ten microns thick. The annual production capacity of the plant is said to be more than 38 kilometers, with standard lengths of five, ten and 50 meters offered. ABEE plans to further develop its lithium metal anode technology in collaboration with battery manufacturers and energy storage solution providers. The aim is to accelerate the technologyʼs market introduction.
