South Korean battery cell manufacturer SK On has signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with Italian sports car manufacturer Ferrari. The agreement aims to strengthen technological collaboration and promote the exchange of knowledge between the partners. The renewed partnership aims to explore new opportunities and potential solutions for the further development of battery cell technology.
Exclusive partnership for more than four years
SK On has been Ferrariʼs exclusive battery cell supplier since 2019. The company provided the batteries for Ferrariʼs first plug-in hybrid, the SF90 Stradale, as well as its convertible variant, the SF90 Spider. SK Onʼs batteries are also used in the 296 GTB and 296 GTS plug-in hybrids, which Ferrari launched in 2021 and 2022, respectively.
