In collaboration with the German Engineering Federation (VDMA), the Chair of Production Engineering of E-Mobility Components (PEM) of RWTH Aachen University has published the fifth edition of the “Production Process of a Lithium-Ion Battery Cell” guide. The publication aims to provide an overview of the entire production process and is intended for individuals involved in battery cell production, from research to industrial manufacturing.
Guidance for the industry
The guide provides a comprehensive overview of the process chain from material preparation and cell assembly to final testing. It systematically classifies the individual steps and explains their technical objectives. According to the authors, the publication is intended as a resource for industry professionals, researchers, and managers. It combines process engineering fundamentals with information on investment frameworks, production environments, and infrastructure requirements. Thus, it addresses everything from operational issues at shop floor level to strategic aspects of factory design.
