Chinese battery manufacturer EVE Energy has started production at its first overseas plant in Malaysia. Located in the Kulim district of Kedah state, the plant will produce cylindrical cells for power tools and electric two-wheelers.
53rd factory is the first outside China
According to the company, the Malaysian plant has an annual production capacity of 680 million 21700-format battery cells. This equates to an annual production of just over ten gigawatt-hours. Construction began in August 2023 and equipment installation started in December 2024. The factory is EVE Energyʼs 53rd and the first outside of China.
