E-Lyte Opens Electrolyte Manufacturing Facility in Germany

German company E-Lyte Innovations has opened a production facility for electrolyte solutions in Kaiserslautern, Germany. With a capacity of up to 20,000 tons per year, the plant will be producing electrolytes for lithium-ion batteries, sodium-ion batteries, and supercapacitors. A large portion of the electrolytes will be used in battery-electric vehicles.

Automated Production Process

According to the company, its production facility uses a highly automated process that largely eliminates manual operations. E-Lyte claims this reduces problems such as dust generation and the need for cleaning processes, thus minimizing the use of solvents and nitrogen. This is expected to not only reduce production costs but also minimize waste. The system had been funded as part of the German Environmental Innovation Program.

Entering the North American market in 2025

E-Lyte intends to further expand its production capacity in Germany and Europe in the coming years, planning to increase its annual production volume by at least another 20,000 tons by 2026. The company is also preparing to enter the North American market in 2025.
