Chinese Ganfeng Lithium Plans Joint Venture in Turkey

Ganfeng Lithium subsidiary Ganfeng LiEnergy from China is entering into a partnership with Turkish company YİĞİT AKÜ. The aim of the collaboration is to establish lithium battery production in Turkey. The two companies plan to invest 500 million US dollars to establish a production facility with an annual capacity of five gigawatt-hours.

R&D center also to be built

The plant is expected to produce both lithium batteries and battery packs, with flexible production capacity to meet market demand. In addition to the production facility, the joint venture plans to also establish a research and development (R&D) center, which will specialize in the development of advanced lithium battery technologies, including solid-state batteries and high-performance batteries for use in marine and aviation applications. YİĞİT AKÜ has been active in battery technology since 1976 and is considered the largest manufacturer of lead-acid batteries in Turkey.
