HELM AG subsidiary LevertonHELM could soon collaborate with Canadian technology specialist Mangrove Lithium. The two companies have signed a memorandum of understanding to explore the potential of a European lithium refinery. Such a plant could produce sustainable battery-grade lithium hydroxide monohydrate for electric vehicles using Mangroveʼs Clear-LiTM electrochemical technology.
Convincing purity, efficiency, and production costs
The joint statement follows a successful commercial demonstration of Mangroveʼs technology, in which lithium sulphate from recycled battery materials was converted into high-quality lithium hydroxide. LevertonHELM claims it is convinced of the patented refining technologyʼs high purity, efficiency, and low production costs. Projects like this are considered crucial for the secure supply of critical minerals needed for the EUʼs energy transition.
Local and circular supply chain for lithium products
By combining LevertonHELMʼs expertise in lithium processing with Mangroveʼs innovative technology, the potential partnership aims to set a milestone in the European renewable energy sector. The aim is to create a robust, local, and circular supply chain for battery-grade lithium products.
