Renault Group subsidiary Ampere has commissioned a battery cell laboratory in Lardy, near Paris. Spanning 3,000 square meters across two floors, the Battery Cell Innovation Laboratory contans more than 120 pieces of equipment, including a 600-square-meter drying room. The center will combine cell prototype development with electro-physical-chemical analysis. The aim is to investigate cell behavior and performance parameters such as durability, fast-charging capability, and ease of disassembly.
Lardy as a reference center for electric mobility
The laboratory is intended to identify promising battery technologies and partners at an early stage. Ampere claims it wants to increase its control over the entire battery value chain, from research to vehicle integration. This facility is part of the strategy to transform the Lardy site into a reference center for electric mobility within the Renault Group.
“E-Tech Campus” offerings for external parties
The facility is linked to the ongoing transformation of the technical center in Lardy. At the same time, Renault is building an E-Tech Campus, which will offer training courses on electric mobility. Initially, the courses will be for employees only, but eventually, external personnel will also be trained.
