US-based Ace Green Recycling and the African electric mobility company Spiro have announced a collaboration. The goal is to promote battery recycling in Africa. Ace will recycle used batteries, including lithium iron phosphate (LFP) batteries, as well as waste from Spiroʼs battery production.
Largest e-mobility provider on the continent
A key component of the agreement is the planned construction of recycling centers near Spiroʼs collection points. These will use recycling technology developed by Ace, which is described as eco-friendly and scalable. Spiro claims to be the largest electric mobility provider in Africa and operates a fleet of more than 22,000 electric motorcycles in several countries across the continent, including Nigeria, Kenya, and Uganda. The company also offers a comprehensive support network for its vehicles, including battery swapping, fast-charging stations and home-charging options.
