ProLogium from Taiwan has received the permits for its gigafactory in Dunkirk, France. The construction an environmental permits were issued in mid-December 2024. ProLogium plans to manufacture cells using a ceramic separator, silicon anode, and nickel-manganese-cobalt cathode.
Mass production to start in 2027
The gigafactory will be built in three phases. Construction is scheduled to begin in 2025, while mass production is currently planned to begin in 2027. Afterwards, production capacity will be gradually increased. Initially, a total capacity of 48 gigawatt-hours was planned, but due to current market developments in the electric vehicle sector, the company intends to start with a capacity of two to four gigawatt-hours, possibly expanding this to eight to 16 gigawatt-hours by 2030.
Research center for European needs
According to ProLogium, the company has already shipped more than 12,000 samples of its lithium ceramic batteries to automakers and has been operating a production line in Taiwan since 2024. The company has also set up a research center in Paris-Saclay specifically to meet European needs.
