BTR New Material Group from China has announced the construction of a new production facility in Morocco. The project in Tangier Technology City is planned to have an annual capacity of 60,000 tons of anode material. The total investment for the plant is estimated to be up to 366 million US dollars. Construction is expected to take two years although a start date has not yet been determined.
Following a similar initiative from Indonesia
The project will be managed by BTRʼs subsidiary BTR Mediterranean New Material Technology. The development in Morocco follows a similar initiative from Indonesia and is part of BTRʼs international expansion strategy. According to the company, it is seeking a stronger market presence outside of China to better meet global demand for anode materials.
