Battery-News provides an overview of battery trainings and workforce development in North America. The underlying data were compiled in collaboration with the Volta Foundation for the 2025 Battery Report and updated again for the Battery-News. If a relevant training or qualification program is missing or if there are general comments, the Battery-News editorial team will be happy to receive a message.
Demand for skilled workers is rising
The map shows that North America is continuously expanding its capacity in the battery industry. With the ramp-up of new cell factories and recycling plants, the demand for skilled workers is increasing along the entire value chain – especially for technical personnel and engineers as well as managers for industrial production.
Rapid on-site skills development
In North America, personnel and training initiatives are increasingly being organized around national research laboratories, industry associations, universities, and colleges, as well as regionally funded training programs. These programs are often directly linked to the construction and scaling of gigafactories as well as recycling sites and are designed to ensure rapid skills development on site.
