Chinese battery manufacturer Eve Energy has begun construction on new headquarters for sodium-ion batteries as well as a center for robotics and artificial intelligence. The facility is being built at Eve Energyʼs headquarters in Huizhou, Guangdong Province, China. According to the company, it will combine research, pilot production, and mass production of sodium-ion batteries under one roof.
140-million-dollar project
The 90,000-square-meter project involves an investment of the equivalent of approximately 140 million US dollars. The target annual capacity is said to be two gigawatt-hours. Eve Energy claims the site will become a leading center for the industrialization of sodium-ion batteries in China. Sodium-ion batteries are regarded as a realistic alternative to lithium-based systems because of the greater availability of the necessary materials and their effectiveness at lower temperatures.
