South Korean battery manufacturer LG Energy Solution has announced a long-term supply agreement with German car manufacturer Mercedes-Benz. Several Korean news agencies report the contract is worth the equivalent of more than one billion US dollars. The partnership will run from the beginning of March 2028 to the end of June 2035. According to reports, the supply will primarily cover markets in Europe and North America. LG stated that the contract terms, including value and duration, are subject to change based on future consultations.
Previous 107-gigawatt-hour agreement
The agreement follows previous collaborations between the two companies. Just in September 2025, LG Energy Solution had announced a separate agreement with Mercedes-Benz for a total battery supply volume of 107 gigawatt-hours. Of this capacity volume, 75 gigawatt-hours will be supplied to subsidiaries of the German automotive group, and 32 gigawatt-hours will head directly to Mercedes-Benz. The contracts have different expiration dates ranging from 2028 to 2037.
