Farasis Energy from China will equip two future European Aion models from Chinese car manufacturer GAC with its battery systems. The collaboration involves the supply of more than 10 gigawatt-hours of batteries based on lithium iron phosphate (LFP) chemistry. The models are said to be the Aion V and Aion UT which GAC plans to position as key models for the European market.
Super Pouch Solution
For these vehicles, Farasis will supply its Super Pouch Solution (SPS) technology which uses large-format pouch cells. According to Farasis, the technology is modular and scalable. Several Chinese manufacturers already use the SPS system, including Geely with its Radar RD6 Horizon electric pick-up truck as well as earlier generations of the GAC Aion models.
