DEKRA Opens Battery Testing Center in Klettwitz

German testing and certification company DEKRA has officially commissioned its new battery testing center at Lausitzring in Brandenburg. The facility, which took around 15 months to complete after construction began, represents an investment in the tens of millions. The testing center complements the existing testing and service offerings at the Klettwitz site.

Electric mobility and other applications

The new center will be used to comprehensively test batteries for electric vehicles and other applications. It will allow for mechanical, performance, environmental, and abuse tests, in which the batteries are subjected to stresses beyond their regular load limits. Services offered range from development-related tests and homologation to certification and market surveillance.

Up to 40 additional jobs

According to DEKRA, the number of employees at the site has risen from 70 to 290 since the takeover of the Lausitzring eight years ago, and up to 40 additional jobs are planned for the new battery testing center. The Klettwitz expansion is part of DEKRAʼs strategy to expand its service portfolio for the automotive and supplier industries.
