Battery Production Days to Offer Six Different Sessions

On October 21st and 22nd, 2025, the new Battery Production Days (BPD) at #BatteryCityMünster will provide information on various aspects in six major themed sessions. The event, organized by the Fraunhofer Research Institution for Battery Cell Production FFB, PEM of RWTH Aachen University, and Campus Forum, will offer three sessions per day.

Digitalization, quality assurance, factory planning

The first three sessions on October 21st will focus on innovations and digitalization in battery cell production, quality assurance, and modern factory planning. Session 1 will deal with new manufacturing technologies for increasing efficiency from electrode production to cell finishing, sustainable production approaches for reducing waste, energy and material consumption, as well as advanced plant concepts for innovative cell formats and scalable production lines. Session 2 will address interoperability in cell manufacturing and thus the question of how people, machines, IT systems, and data standards have to interact. Session 3 will highlight how errors in production and in the battery cell itself can be avoided, what challenges and solutions exist in the ramp-up of battery factories, and how particle contamination can be avoided, especially in clean rooms and dry rooms.

Innovative cells, analysis, testing, and recycling

The remaining three sessions on October 22nd will focus on innovations in battery cells as well as on battery testing, analysis, recycling, and end-of-life concepts. Session 4 will address innovative materials for future cell generations, the scaling of innovative materials manufacturing, the opportunities and challenges of sodium-ion technology in particular, and disruptive developments in cell components in general. Session 5 will shed light on innovative inline-capable testing methods for detecting production-related cell defects, the mutual implications between battery cell design and performance characteristics, and the reduction of time-consuming testing procedures with the help of digital twins. Session 6 will deal with innovative concepts for safe and economical battery transport, with economic efficiency and sustainability of battery recycling in Europe, with automated disassembly as a key process for a battery circular economy, and with new technologies for recovering critical raw materials from recycled materials.

Registration for the 2025 BPD

As part of the program, participants can also visit a special exhibition and take part in four themed tours of the “FFB PreFab” and “FFB Fab” open research factory. Battery-News is a media partner of BPD 2025.
