Morrow and SEEL to Collaborate on LNMO Battery Development

Morrow Batteries from Norway and SEEL Swedish Electric Transport Laboratory have signed an agreement to jointly advance the development of lithium-nickel-manganese oxide (LNMO) battery cells. The project is part of the “Important Projects of Common European Interest” (IPCEI) initiative, which aims to bolster Europeʼs battery expertise and infrastructure. The collaboration is supported by the RISE Research Institutes of Sweden.

Focus on accelerated aging protocols

The partners will focus on developing and validating accelerated aging protocols for LNMO battery cells. These protocols are intended to enable more accurate predictions of battery life and performance under real-world conditions. The companies hope this will shorten development cycles and improve the market readiness of batteries for electric mobility and energy storage. While Morrow will contribute its expertise in cell development, SEEL is to provide modern testing facilities. RISE will be supporting the project with research and aims to develop new product validation methods. SEEL is part of RISE and the Chalmers University of Technology Foundation. SEEL operates sites in Gothenburg, Nykvarn, and Borås, focusing on researching and testing electric transport solutions.
