Battery-News provides a comprehensive overview of globally planned as well as already implemented projects in the field of next-generation battery production. The underlying data come from official announcements by the respective players and reliable sources from the battery production environment. All information was compiled by PEM of RWTH Aachen University as part of the “FoFeBat4” research project (funding code: 03XPO590E) and offer insight into key developments as well as investments shaping the future of battery technology.
China dominates the SSB market
Asia continues to lead the market, followed by North America and Europe. In Asia, meanwhile, there is strong momentum for sulphide-based solid-state batteries (SSB). This development is being driven primarily by Chinaʼs increased efforts, for example in the form of the China All-Solid-State Battery Collaborative Innovation Platform (CASIP). In the meantime, North America and Europe are focusing primarily on oxide-based and polymer-based solid electrolytes. While progress is being made globally, several important details about SSB cell technology – particularly the specific use of solid electrolytes – remain unclear or undisclosed.
