Testing company UL Solutions from the United States has opened a battery testing laboratory in Aachen, Germany. It is the companyʼs first facility for battery testing in the EU. According to UL Solutions, the lab will test lithium-ion batteries for electric vehicles and stationary energy storage systems. The new facility replaces a previously leased testing facility that became part of UL Solutions following its acquisition of the German “BatterieIngenieure” company in 2024.
Testing will meet global standards
The laboratory is designed to test batteries during their development and final production phases. Services to be offered include life tests, safety analyses, and thermal stress scenarios, meeting international safety standards. The goal is to help customers comply with standards from the IEC, SAE, UN, and other organizations. The facility will also assist OEMs with launching their products in the international market.
