Battery-News presents an up-to-date overview of intended and already implemented projects in the field of lithium-ion battery recycling. The new map shows for the first time which processes are planned at the individual sites – mechanical, hydrometallurgical, pyrometallurgical, or direct recycling. Some sites from the 2024 map are no longer included as the companies are no longer pursuing battery recycling.
Circularity Hub is being created in Aachen
At the same time, new projects have been added or specified, for example at the German sites in Goslar and Aachen. As innovations in battery recycling are of great importance, the PEM Chair of RWTH Aachen University is currently building a Circularity Hub with an automated system for battery disassembly, mechanical recycling, and production of active material. These facilities will be used primarily for industry-relevant research topics and challenges.
