DEKRA Starts Construction of Modern Battery Test Center

German testing company DEKRA has laid the foundation stone for a new battery test center in Klettwitz, Germany. From mid-2025, battery systems for electric vehicles and high-voltage storage systems for other applications are to be extensively tested there.

Tests are possible at all stages

In addition to mechanical and performance as well as environmental testing, the center will also offer abuse testing, where batteries are subjected to loads far beyond their normal operating limits. All of these services will be offered both for the development phase and in the context of homologation, certification, quality assurance, and market surveillance. According to DEKRA, the new center will at the Klettwitz site will be one of the worldʼs most comprehensive and modern test centers for the automotive industry. With a wide range of services from a single source, DEKRA claims that the test center will meet the highest safety, efficiency and performance standards for next-generation batteries.
