Daimler Truck, Cumminsʼ “Accelera” business unit and U.S. truck manufacturer Paccar have finalized the formation of the “Amplify Cell Technologies” joint venture. The goal is to localize battery cell production and the battery supply chain within the United States. Kel Kearns has been appointed as the new chief executive officer. Each of the three partner companies will own 30% of the joint venture, while EVE Energy will participate with a ten-percent stake as a technology partner.
LFP-cell gigafactory to start in 2027
The joint venture plans to build a 21-gigawatt-hour battery factory in Marshall County, Mississippi. According to an official announcement, construction will begin soon and production is expected to start in the year of 2027. In the event of an increase in demand, the site is planned to have the potential for expansion. The cells to be produced will be based on the lithium iron phosphate (LFP) chemistry with a focus on commercial and industrial applications in North America.
